BOTOX/DYSPORT is available everywhere, so why come to Cosmedics Med Spa?

Because there is a remarkable difference between good BOTOX/DYSPORT and great BOTOX/DYSPORT. The amount used and where it is injected can make a significant difference in the desired results, and in how long those results last. Our Team offers a customized approach to BOTOX/DYSPORT application that is based on each client’s goals and their individual anatomy, which results in great BOTOX/DYSPORT results.

BOTOX/DYSPORT in the cosmetic world is used to relax muscles and soften the appearance of wrinkles that have formed from years of facial expressions. It has been used medically for years to treat a variety of neuromuscular disorders and was FDA approved for cosmetic use in 2002. BOTOX/DYSPORT is delivered in a series of small, almost painless injections, and is commonly used to treat frown lines between the eyes, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Advanced techniques can provide eyebrow shaping and lifting, relax wrinkles above the lip, or lift the corners of the mouth.

What to expect from your first BOTOX/DYSPORT treatment:

Botox treatment is quick and not invasive. Our team is comprised of Dr. Price, who is a board certified surgeon and Registered Nurses with extensive experience in providing Botox/Dysport and other nonsurgical cosmetic treatments to men and women in the Utah County area. One of our Registered Nurses or Nurse Practitioner will make a few tiny, precisely placed injections into the muscles that are causing your wrinkles. The injections will cause a weakening of the muscles, making them relax. The wrinkled skin covering the overactive muscles then becomes smooth as the wrinkles are erased.

During your Botox/Dysport consultation, your Nurse Practitioner will decide exactly where to place the injections to give you the best results. No anesthesia is required, although sometimes an ice pack or numbing cream is applied to the area before the injections, for your comfort.

The entire procedure takes about 10 minutes, making it perfect to schedule on your lunch hour if you’re busy, like most of us are. Discomfort is minimal and brief; most people compare the sensation to a bug bite. There is no downtime. You can resume your normal activity immediately.

BOTOX® and Dysport™ are purified proteins that are used to inhibit muscle movement in the face. By limiting the movement that creates the wrinkles, our skin is able to smooth itself out. BOTOX® and Dysport™ treatments consist of a few quick injections around the trouble area. Treatments are fast and almost painless.*

What is Botox/Dysport Cosmetic?

Botox is a purified protein – the cosmetic form of botulinum toxin. It is given as an injection in a simple, nonsurgical procedure that helps reduce wrinkles of the face, especially the frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet near the eyes, and thick bands in the neck. Botox/Dysport is also used to treat wrinkles around the mouth, chin dimples, Jaw Clenching, TMJ, and excessive sweating among others.

Is Botox Safe?

In one word…YES! Having already been in use to treat many conditions for more than 15 years, Botox/Dysport Cosmetic was officially approved by the FDA in 2002. It is approved in more than 75 countries. Not only is it safe, it also works. In a recent survey of 303 people, 92% were satisfied with the results of their Botox treatments.

What are the Risks With Botox/Dysport?

To date, there have been no allergies associated with Botox. However, there are some common side-effects that may appear after Botox/Dysport injection. These include headaches, respiratory infection, flu type symptoms, temporary eyelid droop, and nausea. These risks are higher when your Botox treatments are performed by inexperienced injectors and those who are not board certified physicians.

What is the difference between Botox/Dysport and Dermal fillers such as Juvederm?

Frown lines are caused by overactive facial muscles. Facial fillers smooth out wrinkles by adding volume to the tissues around the muscle with injections just beneath the skin, “filling” the folds and creases of the skin. Botox/Dysport Cosmetic is injected into the muscle, blocking the chemicals that cause facial muscles to contract, and relaxing them by causing a partial paralysis.

While there are many options available for fillers, Botox Cosmetic is the most effective product of its type that affects the actual muscles that cause these wrinkles.

Can I return to work and normal activities immediately?

Yes, you can return to work and normal activities immediately. After laser hair removal, the treated site may feel like mild sunburn for 24 hours or more. Slight redness and swelling surrounding the hair follicles is normal and is actually an indicator of a good clinical response. Although irritating preparations such as glycolic acid and retinoids should be avoided, make-up can be applied to the treated area shortly after treatment.

How soon will I see results? What kind of results can I expect?

You can expect to see the results of your Botox/Dysport Cosmetic injection usually between 5-12 days after your treatment. While there may still be some swelling, don’t worry. The appearance of the injected area will continue to improve for up to a week. Take care to not bend over or lie down for four hours after your injection. Doing so may spread the Botox to other muscles, causing an uneven look.
